Met a lot of new comics fans (and some old ones!), last days of OLD DEVILS on Kickstarter, and more

94% funded with 4 days left, hanging out with hundreds of horror fans, prepping for the holidays

I met so many of you in the real world this month!

Appearances at Silver Moon Comics and Wicked Comic Con were amazing

After almost five years of almost exclusively making comics and putting them online, I went out into the world earlier this month to actually meet people and talk about my work. It was incredible, and so cool to meet so many of you.

On October 4, I set up shop at Silver Moon Comics in Salem, MA on the recommendation of artist Brandon Gorski. I’d been to the shop a few times previously, and I cannot thank owners Chris and Leslie enough for having me. They were very generous with their space and encouraged the absolute mob of shoppers in their store to check out my comics, which I very much appreciated. Because Salem is such a big Halloween tourist attraction, I got to meet folks from all over—off the top of my head, I chatted with horror enthusiasts and comics fans from Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, New York, California, and Kansas. I sold out of Small Bites almost immediately, and made a whole lot of new Nightmare Man/Old Devils fans.

Me at Silver Moon in Salem!

The very next morning, it was back to Boston for my first proper Convention, Wicked Con. That show as also packed with a lot of hardcore comics fans, and some great creators, including George W. O’Connor, whose work I’ve been following from afar for a while.

Wicked Con! I have a very limited wardrobe.

The weekend was a real earthshaker for me—I sold more comics in a single weekend than in any crowdfunding campaign I’ve ever done, and more importantly, I got to talk to folks about my work and get them excited. I’ll be doing more in the future, and I hope I get to meet you out in the wild!

Did you pick up one of my comics this month at an appearance? I’d love to know what you think! Feel free to reply to this newsletter with your thoughts, or just to say hi!

You can also reach me on social media! Drop me a line, send me a picture of you with the comics, or tell me how bad a writer I am!

OLD DEVILS is in its last few days on Kickstarter!

We’re nearly funded, and the campaign ends October 22 at 9am ET

As of October 17 at 2pm, we are only $169 away from full funding!

The response for OLD DEVILS #2 on Kickstarter has been amazing, and we’re almost over the finish line.

If you picked up the first issue and liked it, or you want to get both issues, we’d love to have you aboard. We’ve also got a few special tiers left, including a half-page ad in the book (digital & physical), and even being drawn onto the back cover! We also have entry level tiers as low as $5.

Crowdfunding campaigns like this one help me with the up-front costs of new issues so that I can keep telling stories, so your support is really appreciated.

We’ve got more updated art, too!

While I’ve been pounding the pavement, Artist Jeremiah Schiek has been working on the pages of Old Devils. Here’s page 3, fully colored! It’s the first preview we’re showing of it. This is why you subscribe, right? You can see the first 3 pages and the cover on Kickstarter as well.

It’s like The Real World: Innsmouth

Projects

After we wrap up OLD DEVILS on Kickstarter, I’m excited to announce that Small Bites #2 is going to be coming out in early 2026. It will feature three new stories by bang-up artists, and I’ll have full page reveals from each one of them next month in this newsletter.

I’m also hatching a super-secret new project with one of my earliest and favorite collaborators, Richard Kemp, that we hope to get to you in the near future. It’ll have ghosts, it’ll have Boston, and it’ll have lots of Victorian hats.

Until next time,
